Edinburgh's name is from the time
when there was a lake between the
Old and New Town, and the hill
was paved as a kind of causeway
connecting the two parts of the
center.

To get to Edinburgh you'll have
to go by bus from Dąbrowa
Górnicza to Cracow. Then you'll
have to go on the airport and get
into your plane. Probably you'll
have to travel with a connecting
flight, but it usualy depends on
airlines. Then you get to the
airport in Edinburgh and you'll
have to find your bus that will
take you to your hotel.

The Dean Cemetery is a historically
important Victorian cemetery north
of the Dean Village, west of
Edinburgh city centre, in Scotland.
The main cemetery is accessible
through the main gate on its east
side, through a "grace and favour"
access door from the grounds of
Dean Gallery and from Ravelston
Terrace. it was laid out by David
Cousin in 1846 and was a
fashionable burial ground for
mainly the middle and upper-
classes. The many monuments bear
witness to Scottish achievement in
peace and war, at home and abroad
and are a rich source of Edinburgh
and Victorian history

 Old Town is the heart of medieval Edinburgh, and has most of its
historic monuments (the Castle, Holyrood Palace and St Giles
Cathedral) It is also home to John Knox, who introduced Protestantism
to Scotland, and a statue of Walter Scott, the famous Scottish writer
and poet.
 The Royal Mile is the main street in the old town, which connects
Edinburgh's two royal residences, Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood
Palace. There are three major street routes - Castlehill, Lawnmarket
and High Street. "The Royal Mile" is Edinburgh's most popular tourist
destination.
 Cowgate and Grassmarket are also important points in the south of the
old town. The neighborhood is full of pubs, entertainment venues and
antique shops.

 This park (actually they are gardens) is located in the valley
between the Old Town and the New Town. It is adjacent to Princes
Street to the north. Between Christmas and New Year's, skating
tournaments are held in the gardens, just below the castle.
 In the center of Princes Street Gardens is an artificial hill called
The Mound. Its name means "mound," and dates back to the time when
there was a lake between the Old and New Towns, and the hill was laid
out as a kind of causeway connecting the two parts of the center. The
hill is home to the Royal Scottish Academy, the National Gallery of
Scotland and the Bank of Scotland, among others.

• New Town was built in the 18th century to improve the dire living conditions in
Old Town, which at the time lacked sewage systems, and the narrow and winding
streets contributed to the outbreak of numerous fires. In New Town, wide and
spacious streets were created, built in the Georgian style, with numerous
government buildings and exclusive bourgeois apartments. The checkerboard of
parallel streets, as well as the buildings themselves, offices and banks,
exemplify perfect, even classic and elegant simplicity.
• In the center of New Town is George Street, with its many chic stores and
restaurants adding to the prestige of the area. It lies parallel between Queen
Street and Princes Street, a wide and elegant street with large buildings at
both ends. At its western end is Charlotte Square, as well as St George´s
Church. St Andrews Square with the Melville Monument and the Royal Bank of
Scotland lie at the opposite end of George Street. Princes Street has become the
most popular street in Edinburgh due to its excellent view of the castle and
proximity to the park. The most impressive building is Register House at the
northeast end of it. Waverley Market is also located here, right next to
Waverley train station.

• Behind Holyrood Palace, the park rises to the foot of an extinct
volcano. Originally a hunting ground, the area is now a popular
walking spot covering 260 hectares, including the famous St. Mary's
Pond. To the west of the park is the new Scottish Parliament building

• The port area of Leith seems to be separate from the rest of the city
- residents consider their neighborhood a separate town. This is
somewhat true, as back in the 19th century it was a separate town.
Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia has been moored at the waterfront in
Leith since 1997 and is open to the public. Leith was a source of
inspiration for writer Irvin Welsh.

There are three major street routes - Castlehill, Lawnmarket and High Street. "The Royal Mile" is Edinburgh's most popular tourist destination.  Cowgate and Grassmarket are also important points in the south of the old town. Between Christmas and New Year's, skating tournaments are held in the gardens, just below the castle.  In the center of Princes Street Gardens is an artificial hill called The Mound. Its name means "mound," and dates back to the time when there was a lake between the Old and New Towns, and the hill was laid out as a kind of causeway connecting the two parts of the center. The hill is home to the Royal Scottish Academy, the National Gallery of Scotland and the Bank of Scotland, among others.

In New Town, wide and spacious streets were created, built in the Georgian style, with numerous government buildings and exclusive bourgeois apartments. The checkerboard of parallel streets, as well as the buildings themselves, offices and banks, exemplify perfect, even classic and elegant simplicity. • In the center of New Town is George Street, with its many chic stores and restaurants adding to the prestige of the area. It lies parallel between Queen Street and Princes Street, a wide and elegant street with large buildings at both ends. At its western end is Charlotte Square, as well as St George´s Church. St Andrews Square with the Melville Monument and the Royal Bank of Scotland lie at the opposite end of George Street. Princes Street has become the most popular street in Edinburgh due to its excellent view of the castle and proximity to the park. The most impressive building is Register House at the northeast end of it. Waverley Market is also located here, right next to Waverley train station.

This is somewhat true, as back in the 19th century it was a separate town. Her Majesty's Yacht Britannia has been moored at the waterfront in Leith since 1997 and is open to the public. Leith was a source of inspiration for writer Irvin Welsh.
