Istvan Banyai is a Hungarian illustrator born in Budapest who moved to the United States in 1981. He quickly found success with his illustrations appearing in major publications like The Atlantic Monthly, Time, and The New Yorker. Banyai has also created album covers for record labels and an animated short film. His wordless children's book Zoom about receding perspectives was acclaimed as one of the best books of the year. Banyai currently lives and works in New York City.
