Veronica Stork documented her experiences using various social media platforms over the course of a week for her IST600 class. She created a new Twitter account to connect with others in her profession and used it to have silent discussions during class presentations. Veronica also connected with her entire class on Facebook and added the WorldCat app to her profile. While she played around with Flickr and posted some photos, she thinks she will stick to using Facebook for photos.

2. Twitter! I made a Twitter account before at the request of a friend, but my first tweet was as far as I got: I made a new account for my IST600 class, because I felt like a fresh start.

3. At first, I really still didn’t see the point of Twitter. It seemed like just another status update… But then I realized that Twitter was like texting, but to a larger audience.

4. And there are other uses! Connecting with others in the profession We used it to have a silent discussion during Joe Murphy’s presentation, too.

8. OK, so I’m a Twitter convert. But back to Facebook… There wasn’t much I could do, since I am a big Facebook user already. But I did become Friends with my entire class… And I added the WorldCat app. To my profile.

9. flickr I played around with Flickr a bit, too. Posted a few photos… Organized my photos into sets… Plotted the location of a few photos on the map… Joined the class flickr group and tagged my classmates in a few photos, too…

10. But I think I’ll stick to Facebook for photos….
