Dr. Robert Cade was born in 1927 and graduated from the University of Texas before joining the University of Florida College of Medicine faculty. In the 1960s, Coach Dwayne Douglas approached Cade about his football team's issue with dehydration, leading Cade to research and develop Gatorade to combat dehydration. Gatorade was a success after its first test and commercials featuring Cade, gaining national notoriety. It is now sold in over 80 countries with 50 flavors and is the most well-known sports drink, used by many top athletes around the world.
