A recursive function is a function that calls itself during its execution. This document provides an example of a recursive function to calculate the factorial of a number. It shows how the recursiveFactorial function calls itself with decreasing arguments until it reaches the base case of 0, at which point it returns 1 and the results are multiplied back up the recursive calls to arrive at the final answer of 24 for factorial of 4.
