3. OBJECTIVE:
a.Illustrate a circle and the terms related to it:
radius,diameter, chord, center, arc,
central angle,and inscribed angle.
4. What is Circle?
Circle is a set of infinitely many points equidistant
from a fixed point called the center.
5. Center - it is the fixed or given point in the circle.
It is also used to name the circle.
Radius - it is a segment whose endpoints are the
center and any point on the circle. It is half of the
diameter. The plural form of radius is called radii.
Diameter - it is a segment whose endpoints are
any two points on the circle and passes through
the center. It is also the longest chord.
6.
7. Chord - it is a segment whose endpoints are
any two points on the circle.
Tangent - it is a line that touches the circle at
exactly one point called the point of tangency.
Secant - it is a line that intersects the circle at
two points.
8.
9. Minor Arc - it is an arc less than half a circle
(less than 180°).
Semi-circle -it is an arc that measures half a
circle (exactly 180°).
Major Arc - it is an arc more than half a circle
(more than 180°).
10.
11. Central angle - it is an angle whose vertex
is the center of the circle and sides are two
radii.
Inscribed angle - it is an angle whose
vertex is a point on the circle and sides are
two chords.
