This memorandum provides details about Professor William Streng's Spring 2017 International Tax course at the University of Houston Law Center. The course will provide a comprehensive analysis of the US taxation of income from international transactions, including the taxation of foreign individuals and corporations on US-source income and US individuals and corporations on foreign-source income. Specific topics will include sourcing rules, foreign business operations, foreign tax credits, and taxation of foreign investments in US real estate. The class will meet on Monday and Wednesday evenings and will use textbooks on international taxation. Students will be graded solely on a take-home examination.
