1. Interview transcript
Q. So, what influenced you into singing?
A.I used to be in Choir Club at primary school. It was amazing, I used to
sing classics like ‘Amazing Grace’ that was one of my favs. When I got
older, I got noticed. I always entered almost every talent competition.
Q. Interesting, so you started out as a choir singer and now your a rock
chick singing screamo, how did this happen?
A. Well... by the final years of high school I realised peoples’ styles were
changing! All my friends no were no longer supporting my singing; they
were going out to gigs and dressing totally different! This was a shock to
me as we ALWAYS did everything together! So obviously it was time for
a change. I changed everything about me, my style, my attitude and
my music! Out came the black nail varnish, hair dye, eye liner and
bright eye shadows!
Q. Wow! So what bands were you listening to?
A. There was many to be honest. I listened to Panic! At The Disco for a
while but then I went on to more screamo bands like Bullet For My
Valentine and Bring Me The Horizon.
Q. Good choices. When was the first time you sang screamo in front of
a large audience?
A. It was in my first year of college. I was able to be a line up for
GO:AUDIO! That was awesome, I sang with the rest of the band in front
of an audience of 300! I have sung in front of 50 peers... but 300 fans! It
was Crazy! This was when I started to become who I am today.
Q. Go you! Seeing as this is a Rock Chick Magazine, what's the secret
to your two coloured make up?
A. Ahh, well.. you see, it comes with practice.. Lots of practice. I used
to sit on my bed all evening practicing with my liquid eye liner. Oh and
the two coloured eye shadow, it’s all about the blending, I use a
different brush to blend. It’s really easy when you know how.
Q. Of course. What is the future for TornRose? Where will you be in 6
years?
A. Very big! I hope. I hope that we will have two maybe three
successful albums out. Many singles out, maybe few in the charts. Oh!
And everyone will have heard of us, who knows!
