With the main objective of providing institutional credit for enhancing the production

successor to the cooperative Bank. The Land Reform Savings Corporation was
merged with ADBN in 1973. Subsequent amendments to the Act empowered the bank
to extend credit to small farmers under group liability and expand the scope of
financing to promote cottage industries. The amendments also permitted the bank to
engage in commercial banking activities for the mobilization of domestic resources.
Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADBL) is an autonomous organization
largely owned by Government of Nepal. The bank has been working as a premier
rural credit institution since the last three decades, contributing a more than 67 percent

commercial banking operations since 1984.

innovative products and services to maintain superior customer services levels while

proposals was kept in a file as evidence and the other was sent to the respective
branches. For this the internee had to make the photocopy of approved proposals. A

CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
3.1 Conclusion
During my two months of internship program it was different experience and
exposure to the real work scenario. I learnt a lot about the banking sector and banking
operations, about ADBL. This report had made to know about various kinds of
information/ service offered to customers by ADBL. This internship period helped me
know how an organization can be different from other through people resources
which are inimitable to gain competitive advantage. In such a work environment,
various activities could be performed that not only helped in building a professional
but hopefully benefited the organization to some extend as well.
This report is based on the internship done in ADBL for the period of eight weeks in
Samakhusi Branch. During the internship period, the area worked on Remittance,
CSD, Loan Department and E.C.C. It was great opportunity for me to have a practical
knowledge of banking activities in a real environment of ADBL.
I got the chance to socialize with people and found that people of ADBL are highly
committed to serve the customers and deal with their issues. At the work
environment, I got an opportunity to observe, how people work in team and how they
put their synergized effort for better outcome. ADBL is constantly attempting to
provide better and quality service to the customers. The behavioral issues are also
critical as they make customer feel satisfied.
Remittance, E.C.C, CSD and Loan Department are one of the crucial part of the
ADBL where I got the chance to gather knowledge how one of the big government
bank which bound almost Nepal in its successful service. At last, I would like to once
again thank ADBL, all the staffs of ADBL for their support, suggestions and
cooperation. As a whole, my internship was interesting, memorable and
knowledgeable.
15. 9
This eight weeks internship is really a chance to socialize with people and found that
people of ADBL are highly committed to serve the customers and deal with their
issues. Just the lacking is the best working environment that is still to create by
ADBL. During this internship I got opportunity to observe, how people work in team
and how they put their synergized effort for better outcome. ADBL is constantly
attempting to provide better and quality service to the customer. But there is still long
painstaking way to conquer to restore the stand they achieved few years ago as severe
cut throat competition is going in this sector.
I got the chance to gather knowledge how one commercial bank with its successful
history and scrambling to bound Neplese markets. There was no such uncomfortable
situation during the internship program. To be more precise, the working environment
at ADBL was very congenial and the staffs were very supportive. So, it was much
easier for the internee to gain the knowledge and information of the department.
During internship the internee have learnt a lot of other aspects other than the banking
such as to socialize with the people (including staffs), to deal with the senior staffs,
and to deal with the intern colleague so as to make the working environment cozier
and friendlier. This internship program also helps in learning the behavioral issues
which are most important within and outside the organization.
Lastly, ADBL is excellent in term of their services. ADBL is one of the most
promising banks today and have an opportunity to increases their market share by
improving their customer satisfaction by overcoming their weakness and doing their
best to retain quality services.
16. 10
3.2 Recommendation
Work as an internee at banking sector was truly an amazing experience. During the
internship, the internee got a great opportunity to learn about so many things that have
practical implication in career building. There are two things for recommendation to
the organization and college.
3.2.1 Recommendation to the Organization
By working as an intern at Agriculture Development Bank Ltd (ADBL) and
observing its working environment and procedures some areas of improvement has
been identified. Therefore, the following measures are recommended to the bank for
enhancing its performance:-
Customer satisfaction is the most important thing in any organization. But it was
seen that some of the customers of the bank were not satisfied by the time taken to
render service. Thus taking this into consideration ADBL should focus more on
providing quick and satisfactory services to the customers.
ADBL should increase the number of ATM machines both within and outside the
valley so as to attract more customers towards the bank.
There is large number of over staffing in ADBL so it should downsize lots of staff
and in ADBL there is lack of younger employees also.
Adopting efficient marketing strategies to encourage more of the customers will
help ADBL to successfully compete with other banks.
Though at present ADBL is providing training programs to its employees at a
certain level, it should organize such programs on a regular basis so as to enhance
the skill and competency of staff.
It was also seen that the customers had to wait for a longer period of time in the
cash counters due to limited counters with which the customers were dissatisfied.
Therefore, ADBL should also try to increase the number of cash counters to
minimize the waiting time of the customers.
17. 11
3.2.2 Recommendations to College
Internship is defined as learning proper supervision of the intern is essential. Ongoing
supervision of the intern is key’s to the success of the internship program.
The college and university both institutions have provided us an opportunity to gain
some practical knowledge on what we are learning in our class rooms. Theory unless
made behavior have no use. Thus, this internship program offered by college and
university in fact has been proven to be the first milestone in professional career.
The internship program is to be conducted by the students as per the requirement of
the university. It is also a responsibility of the college to provide good and practical
opportunities to the students to impart the real world situations. There are some
recommendations to the college, which are:.
Proper inspection of intern students should be made by college in proper time and
in regular manner during the tenure of internship.
College should send the supervision to the organization before, after and during
the internship program.
The interaction class must be provided by college at every weekend.
During the internship program of the students, the college should visit the
respective organizations so as to know the performance of the intern.
Due to oversupply of the students it is very difficult to find the organization to do
internship. So college also searches some institution for internship.
College should be in touch with the organization where students did there
internship so that the college can get timely feedback about the intern.
College should also focus to the problem faced by intern student while doing
internship.
