TACTICAL INTELLIGENCE Focuses on the
subject and operations; short term.
STRATEGIC INTELLIGENCE Deals with
political, economic and military capabilities
and vulnerabilities of all nations.
COUNTER INTELLIGENCE Concerns with
security of information, personal, material
and installations.
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF INTELLIGENCE
• Intelligence is continuous.
• Intelligence operations and tactical
operations are inter-dependent.
• Intelligence must be useful.
• Intelligence must be timely.
IS ALL INFORMATION INTELLIGENCE?
• No!
• Until information is processed or
analyzed it is simply data that may or
may not be true, insightful, or relevant

• An organized process by which
information is gathered, assessed, and
distributed in order to fulfill the goals of
the intelligence function.
• It is a method of performing analytic
activities and placing the analysis in a
