Scope of Work
The first task in a network design or an upgrading of the network is defining the scope of work. This scope of work is outlined in the client’s Request for Proposal. This is your base line for developing the scope of work. Here you will start gathering information about the client’s business goals and technical requirements. To identify the business goals, interview upper management, focusing on technical requirements. The IT department can then provide you with the specifications. In the real world, this step is necessary to validate the information provided by the client’s RFP. In this assignment, however, this part of the scope of work is optional. Either you can role play and interview each other to come up with the information or you can skip it. If you skip it, your scope of work is the client’s RFP
Example: Identifying the scope of work:
The scope of this project consists of major modifications to the existing network, along with the implementation of many new network devices and protocols. The main intent of this redesign is to: improve network availability, network reliability, and network security; create a centralized network backbone; implement the use of wireless access, and migrate from a PBX telephony system to an IP based telephony solution.
The proposed design will affect all areas of the current network. Implementing a centralized backbone and upgrading the speed of current links (from 10Mbs to 100Mbs) will greatly improve the entire network. The implementation of a new IP schema, the introduction of VLAN’s, and implementation of new routing protocols and security protocols will improve the net ...

Making the Web Fireproof: A Building Code for WebsitesDylan Wilbanks
The moment we start creating a website, we’re setting ourselves up for failure later. Bad code creates middle of the night fire drills. Lack of thinking about accessibility gets our employer sued. Not thinking ahead on mobile generates rework. We accept this as the normal course of business – but is there any way we could prevent (or lower) this cost? Is there anything we can learn from the building codes that dictate how our built environment is constructed?
We will talk about the lessons of building codes and what we can do today to build more robust web applications and sites, including:
- The need for design patterns in websites
- The need for patterns in user stories so that we build websites consistently
- Baking accessibility into websites comes from putting accessibility into user stories
- Planning a web application is different from planning a building, but it does share similar aspects of work
- The better we can becoming at creating best practices (building codes) the better we will get at building sites, and the closer we will come to Berners-Lee’s “one web for all” dream

ACCOUNTING INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Access and Data Analytics Test
General Instructions.
This exam has four parts. Part 1 is in class. Parts 2, 3, and 4 are take-home. Submit all parts to the
designated dropbox folder. I expect your individual effort on all parts. Parts 2 to 4 are described in a
separate document.
Part 1 – Access (50 points).
To get full credit, you must set up appropriate relationships among the tables and enforce referential
integrity for each link. Your queries must produce the correct values, the fields must by labeled and
formatted appropriately, and query designs must not include extraneous tables. In other words, you
should follow the list of fundamental rules for Access posted on BeachBoard and included at the end of
this document for reference.
1. Download the Fall_2019 database posted in the Access and Data Analytics Test Module under
CONTENT on BeachBoard.
2. Ensure that primary keys are set and establish appropriate relationships among the tables:
Stores, Vendors, Purchases, and Purchase_Items. Stores and Vendors should be linked to
Purchases. Purchases should be linked to Purchase_Items.
3. Prepare the following queries, naming the queries qa, qb, qc, qd, corresponding to the
identifying letters below:
a. Use the purchase_items table to calculate the dollar amount of each item purchased in
an extension query; name your new calculated field purchase_item_amount and format it
appropriately.
b. Use qa and the purchases table to sum the purchase item amounts for each purchase in
an accumulation query; include all fields from the purchases table and the
purchase_item_amount field from qa; name your summed field purchase amount and
format it appropriately.
c. Use qb and the vendors table to sum the purchase amounts from each vendor in
another accumulation query; include vendor number, name, city, and state; name your
summed field vendor purchases and format it appropriately.
d. Use the qb query. Keeping all fields from qb, calculate the month of the purchase;
name that field purchase month.
BEFORE SUBMITTING, ask me to review your work. After I say that you are done, then submit your file
to the BeachBoard DROPBOX. Be sure to close Access before you upload your results.

Some Fundamental Rules for Access
1. Look at your tables and think about what information those tables provide before you start
linking tables and creating queries.
2. Make sure each table has a primary key designated.
3. Always establish relationships between tables first, before starting queries.
4. Always enforce referential integrity (or understand why you can’t).
5. No “expr1” field names.
6. Do not click on the big sigma to produce totals if the query doesn’t require totals (i.e., an
extension query).
7. Avoid “SumOf…” field names in accumulation queries.
8. Include identifying information in addition to the primary key in accumulation queries that
provide subtotals.
9. Always format new fields prope.

Using flight simulation as the primary use case, you learn to consume, process, store, and analyze high velocity telemetry as well as exploring control plane implementations using AWS IoT, AWS Lambda, Amazon Kinesis, and Amazon SNS. This is a hands-on workshop and you need a laptop (tablets are not suitable). You should have a solid understanding of AWS products and Node.js.
Accessibility Testing and VPATs - UX Scotland, May 2024Roger Attrill
On first impression, the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) looks dry, dull, and a right old chore.
Roger will be sharing what he's learned on his own accessibility journey and wants to persuade you to see past that – to recognize the VPAT as an eye-opening opportunity for an enjoyable and fruitful challenge that carries an exciting opportunity to advocate for improved accessibility in your organisation.
With the right mindset, once you've done an accessibility audit for one product, you'll want to do it for all of them!
Takeaways:
- What are VPATs, and how they differ
What you should know before doing an accessibility audit
- The audit process
- Why the language you use in the VPAT matters
- Analyzing the VPAT results and understanding what 'good' looks like
- And most importantly… why completing the VPAT is not the goal here
