Chris Jones, Director of Product Management at BrainChip , presents the “Temporal Event Neural Networks: A More Efficient Alternative to the Transformer” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
The expansion of AI services necessitates enhanced computational capabilities on edge devices. Temporal Event Neural Networks (TENNs), developed by BrainChip, represent a novel and highly efficient state-space network. TENNs demonstrate exceptional proficiency in handling multi-dimensional streaming data, facilitating advancements in object detection, action recognition, speech enhancement and language model/sequence generation. Through the utilization of polynomial-based continuous convolutions, TENNs streamline models, expedite training processes and significantly diminish memory requirements, achieving notable reductions of up to 50x in parameters and 5,000x in energy consumption compared to prevailing methodologies like transformers.
Integration with BrainChip’s Akida neuromorphic hardware IP further enhances TENNs’ capabilities, enabling the realization of highly capable, portable and passively cooled edge devices. This presentation delves into the technical innovations underlying TENNs, presents real-world benchmarks, and elucidates how this cutting-edge approach is positioned to revolutionize edge AI across diverse applications.
Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).
High performance Serverless Java on AWS- GoTo Amsterdam 2024Vadym Kazulkin
Java is for many years one of the most popular programming languages, but it used to have hard times in the Serverless community. Java is known for its high cold start times and high memory footprint, comparing to other programming languages like Node.js and Python. In this talk I'll look at the general best practices and techniques we can use to decrease memory consumption, cold start times for Java Serverless development on AWS including GraalVM (Native Image) and AWS own offering SnapStart based on Firecracker microVM snapshot and restore and CRaC (Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint) runtime hooks. I'll also provide a lot of benchmarking on Lambda functions trying out various deployment package sizes, Lambda memory settings, Java compilation options and HTTP (a)synchronous clients and measure their impact on cold and warm start times.

Essentials of Automations: Exploring Attributes & Automation ParametersSafe Software
Building automations in FME Flow can save time, money, and help businesses scale by eliminating data silos and providing data to stakeholders in real-time. One essential component to orchestrating complex automations is the use of attributes & automation parameters (both formerly known as “keys”). In fact, it’s unlikely you’ll ever build an Automation without using these components, but what exactly are they?
Attributes & automation parameters enable the automation author to pass data values from one automation component to the next. During this webinar, our FME Flow Specialists will cover leveraging the three types of these output attributes & parameters in FME Flow: Event, Custom, and Automation. As a bonus, they’ll also be making use of the Split-Merge Block functionality.
You’ll leave this webinar with a better understanding of how to maximize the potential of automations by making use of attributes & automation parameters, with the ultimate goal of setting your enterprise integration workflows up on autopilot.

ED Glass
ED Glass (Extra Low
Dispersion Glass) is a
special glass added to
optical systems to prevent
chromatic aberration.
Chromatic aberration or
color fringing is a product
of achromatic systems,
which are unable to bring
all colors to a single focus
point. Extra Low
Dispersion glass will add a
higher level of contrast to
optical system and will
provide a higher level of
detail especially when
viewing low contrast
targets.
Fully Multi-Coated
Fully multi-coated lenses

Symbol Definitions The Riflescope Story
Phase Coated
Phase coatings are
coatings applied to roof
prism binoculars to aid in
the elimination of light
interference caused by
intersecting light paths as
they travel through the
Prism.
Dielectric Coated
Dielectric coatings are thin
layers of coatings applied
to prisms and arranged in
sequence so most of the
light is reflected for
increased light
transmission.
Superior Optics
No matter how good your
aim, if the optics in your
scope aren’t functioning
properly, you’ll miss. To
make sure you’re always
on target, at Sightron we
use specially ground
lenses that provide
unparalleled image
resolution. All SV, SIII,
S-TAC, SII36X42BRD and
SIH lenses feature
multiple layers of coating
to eliminate glare,
increase contrast and
maximize light
transmission. Finally,
each optic is hand fit into
the sighting device for
precise placement and
perfectly matched
alignment. That’s why
when you look through
a Sightron instrument,
your targets will appear
sharper and clearer than
ever before.
In today’s marketplace
with all the choices
available to the consumer
there are many quality
products but none that
combine the features and
cost that really provide a
great buy for customers of
all types and needs.

Due to the changing
requirements by the U.S.
Department of Commerce
it is important to let your
Distributor return your
scope for repair as they
are aware of the proper
importation and
exportation regulations for
your Country.
The heart of any scope is accuracy. This is obtained by a combination
of different components; quality lenses, design of the main body tube,
the erector tube and the windage and elevation assembly. These
elements are the neurological center of any Sightron scope,
surpassing the competition and standing at a higher level of quality.
The Sightron SV, SIII, S-TAC, and the SII36X42BRD feature
ExacTrack, the most revolutionary breakthrough in modern shooting
history. Thanks to our unique windage and elevation adjustment
system, this simple yet innovative advancement features an exclusive erector tube that keeps a positive, flush
point of contact from zero alignment through even the most dramatic adjustments. In other words, you will
never experience drift. Never!
Within your riflescope is an erector or pivot tube. The windage and elevation adjustments move this tube
for proper alignment. Conventional scopes have a curved surface against a flat surface. This contact is only
complete at zero adjustment (when the erector tube is in the ideal centered position, see Figure 1). As the
adjustments press the erector tube in any direction, the contact becomes imperfect (see Figure 2), causing
the reticle to drift from the optical center (horizontal and vertical reticle trajectory or movement). Also, in many
cases since the point of contact is less than what is required to hold the erector tube in position, the result
is what every sportsman knows as point-of-impact shift. Sightron has developed a new erector tube with an
integral ring. This ring and the redesigned adjustment screws have become the first positive contact system in
the market.
ExacTrack will keep constant and perfect point-of-impact, at or off zero (see Figures 3 & 4). This constant
pressure point will ensure the accuracy of all Sightron scopes during the most rugged conditions.
At Sightron, quality is not a luxury, but a necessity.
