  1. Key points:We are an independent, best-of-breed provider. This is what we do and we’ve been doing it for almost 35 years. (Compared to other vendors that have BI embedded as part of a much larger software stack that is non-BI related.)This independence allows us to focus on our two core values – our customers and our technology innovation. We’ve received industry recognition for our commitment to both (will be covered later).Just over a year ago, IBM began OEM’ing a lightweight version of our BI product for their System i (AS/400) platform (called DB2 Web Query). Think of us as the Switzerland in the software industry – we are open, flexible and play well with others – and we will continue to do so.But most importantly, we create local, long-term partnerships with our customers – our most important constituency. Our model is to complement standard support with strong, dedicated local support – so we commit to our customers’ success at a local level. Our average local SE tenure is 8 ½ years – well beyond the high-tech industry average. The average tenure on our support line is over 11 years.We believe BI is not something you buy, it is rather something you achieve. We help our customers achieve success with their BI investment.
  2. We have two core competencies – Information (BI) and Integration. What makes us unique is that we have not grown our platform by acquisition/merger. Instead, we have grown organically – within our own 4 walls. Everything you get from us is ours and has been built on a common architecture and infrastructure.   3. This slide is meant to help you build credibility. We’ve received industry recognition for our customer service and support, our product quality and its ease of use, and its overall adoption.You may also want to mention that last Fall we were recognized as a market leader in BI by CRM Magazine (Customer Relationship Management) and ranked number 1 in customer service.
  4. What are the business drivers that people are talking about as the motivation of their business intelligence projects? Over the years this has changed. The answer to this question coming from Managers in the past used to be “I just want to know what is going on”. Today you will see the words “Process” and “Operations” appear more often when you ask this question.What drives your need for Business Intelligence?   5. The main reason why organizations have not exceeded the limitations of 20/20 is due primarily to the sole focus on the traditional users of BI – the power users and analysts. Most BI vendors continue to focus their products on this important but very limited community (that most oftentimes access a data warehouse). Many organizations try to extend the use of these products to their non-technical business users, such as field sales, operational employees, administrators, etc. – but are unsuccessful. So, the non-technical business users are limited to static information, which is not what they need. In fact, these mass business users require much more real-time information about their customers, products and processes. WebFOCUS can efficiently access all of your data and provide it dynamically to all of your users – whether those users are inside or outside your firewall. In fact, the most un-served community for BI are the people outside the firewall. Sadly, they are your most ‘high-value’ users – your business partners and your customers. When you serve them properly, you drive performance, efficiency and ROI. WebFOCUS addresses the security, scalability and licensing models to easily provide BI to your extended enterprise. We not only scale from a technology perspective, but from a licensing perspective as well (we don’t require a heavy per seat licensing structure).It is our philosophy that business people need information, not tools. With WebFOCUS, you can easily deploy intuitive BI applications that are easy to use and require no training. (If you can use eBay, you can use WebFOCUS). Chances are you are already using WebFOCUS and don’t even know it. (Ask them if they do business with US Bank, American Express, AT&T, Fidelity, Administaff, etc.).
  6. This slide introduces each of the categories.You want to emphasize on this slide that WebFOCUS is a platform that does much more than any other BI platform. Reaching into application types (e.g. predictive analytics, search, performance management, Mobile, data quality and more) that typically will require a company to make additional investments in software from other vendors which requires additional hardware, additional experience and additional training, etc.Many vendors offer you core BI capabilities, but WebFOCUS is unique in its innovation to offer extended BI from the same, integrated platform (you may want to again reiterate our organic growth message – that we provide our customers all of these capabilities not by buying companies, but by developing these capabilities in-house so they all work well together.)You can also reiterate that we not only focus on the pretty pictures, but take responsibility for what happens on the back end as well. WebFOCUS will cover all of your information systems needs from data inception (collection, quality, and movement) to information delivery (reporting, analysis, & distribution) from one common platform and architecture.
  7. Provides360 degree view of the customerUnique to Magnify:Merges structured data with unstructured which is by itself OK. But we take it a step further. We can feed content in a real-time fashion with our integrated integration layer (iWay). We make it real-time vs. just “crawling” which is done at intervals and very resource intensive. With real-time, as soon as a new entry is made or record has changed, we will update it in real-time and it is automatically available and reflected. We can also embed scoring models to predict relevance (more on predictive analytics later).Large results sets are no problem with your dynamic categorization which organizes the information.Tie the power of search with BI and operational reporting. Provides a single entry point and simplifies things for the end user. Leverages open source to keep costs down for our customers. (Gartner calls Lucene a “game changer”. Lucene functions like Google but is a fraction of the cost.)
  8. So why are we (and our customers) successful?End user adoption is one key measureof success. We have the widest known deployments and WebFOCUS is used by information workers at every level of an enterprise. Ease of use drives adoption and adoption drives return on your investment. The more people that use it, the higher your return.We have proven scalability - some applications reaching into millions of named users. (Pershing mentioned here is a portal used by 100,000 investment professionals. Patrick Yip of Pershing said “One of the main reasons our BI environment [WebFOCUS] has been adopted so widely is because it does not require any special experience or sophistication…”With our breadth of data access we can create more systems than other vendors including those that reach into real-time operational systems – those applications that reach frontline workers at the bottom of the org chart and partners and customers outside your organization.With all of this our customers experience high yield with low costs in:Software – flexible pricing including server based options that do not go up for each named userHardware –because our software scales you need less hardware to service more usersTraining – very few WebFOCUS applications require training at allDevelopment – since you can do so many things with WebFOCUS your developer needs to know less tools but can create more applicationsSupport – Without (“how-to”) questions overloading you internal support lines you don’t require as many support personnel
