Mens’ Basketball Rule Changes



1944 Offensive three seconds is introduced.
1948 Coaches are allowed to speak to players during time
outs.
1954 One-and-one free throws are introduced.
1972 Freshmen are allowed to play varsity.
1986 Three point shot is introduced.
2008 Referees are allowed to use instant replay to
determine flagrant fouls.

• Three players were forwards who tried to score goals.
• Three players were guards who defended the other end of the
  court.
• Forwards and guards could not cross half-court or it was a
  turnover.
• Girls dribbled three times and then had to pass.
• Girls could not touch an opposing player, nor block shots.
