Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

3. ID X, Y. Give context.
• The film Ek Dil Sau Afsane starred X and Y in titular roles. Inspite of a
stellar star cast, the film did not fare well at the box office. All in all, it
wasn’t a remarkable film in any aspect. It was therefore impossible
for anyone associated with the film to ever realise that it would
become so popular almost 54 years after its release.
• Why has it become so popular so suddenly?
9. Give funda
• Technically, there is no provision for referendums in the Indian
constitution. That is one reason why experts dismissed Arvind
Kejriwal’s demand for a referendum on full statehood for Delhi. There
is however, one instance of a referendum in India that is sometimes
quoted as a precedent. Why was this referendum held?
12. ID the place
• The discovery of Mica deposits in the region brought economic
prosperity to this village. With prosperity came new entertainment
sources like radio which became an instant hit in the region. People
used to send across multiple song requests to radio channels daily
just to hear their names. As the pastime became a passion for the
people of X, the name of their village became famous among Vividh
Bharti listeners across India. However, thanks to the town’s unusual
name and the humongous number of song requests it sent, many
listeners were sceptical about its existence. This led to the rise of use
of X’s name in pop culture.
15. ID X
• Khushwant Singh in his autobiography talks about X as being a “tall,
handsome Bihari who had an hour with Indira behind closed doors
every morning. Yoga lessons may have ended up with lessons from the
Kamasutra.”
• This apparent closeness between X and Indira Gandhi has been
covered by several biographers over the years with some even
claiming X for the death of Sanjay Gandhi.
• X’s proximity to Indira and his penchant for influence-peddling earned
him the sobriquet of “Indian Rasputin”.
27. Give the context of the story
• A lesser known story from the Mahabharata describes an incident
where Lord Krishna and Arjun see a farmer leading water to his fields.
In order to direct the flow, he needs a large stone. When he can’t find
any suitable stone, he cuts his son’s head with a sword and puts the
head to obstruct the flow of water. The father who was cutting and
the son whose head was being cut, do not have any emotions. Lord
Krishna on seeing this tells Arjun that the place was cursed and all
emotions had died in the place. What was the direct consequence of
this incident in the Mahabharata?
30. ID X
• At the 2012 Coachella Music festival, Tupac came back to life using

Twenty years later, I bumped into Harvey Wood again. He looked at me
and said, "Bloody hell! You're still in the same uniform." He asked me to
mail him the details of all my films as I was onto a world record for the
most occupational role. Later the Guinness book people sent a team to
Bombay to verify facts before they entered my name in their book.

He complained about it to his wife Emily early on: “I am having

League midway through the season due to this. Amidst much
confusion, Royal Regiment was declared winners in the first division.
However, X, in spite of being well ahead in the second division, was not
allowed to be promoted to the First Division. They suspected Y’s hand
behind the league boycott to thwart X’s promotion to the First Division.
Thousands of X fans and officials decided to hold a protest march. It
was at this march that flaming torches were carried by the protestors.
This gave the club officials the idea of a torch being the club emblem,
which has stuck to this day.

universalise the scheme for all children in government schools.
Although the programme in Tamil Nadu was initially termed as an act of

Manmohan Singh hailed the success of the project and suggested that the
scheme be implemented all over the country.

The XY is the name of a Muslim shrine located in the Khanyaar quarter of the city of
Srinagar in Kashmir with the graves of two men. The word X means tomb, the word

have traditionally referred to the main sage buried there as Yuzasaf, more recently
Yuz Asaf . The other man buried is Mir Sayyid Naseeruddin.
The shrine was relatively unknown until the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim
Community, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, claimed in 1899 that it is actually the tomb of
Jesus.
