The document discusses the various technologies used to create a film project, including:
- A Panasonic HD900 camera with better definition and focus varying preferences that allowed varied shot choices.
- Tripods and other equipment to keep the camera steady for shots like panning and tilting. A low tripod was used for an opening pan shot.
- Lighting, including fill lights, back lights, and key lights, to create desired shadows and mimic weather conditions.
- Adobe Premiere Elements for editing shots, sound, adding effects, and creating a logo animation.
- Garageband to create copyright-free music to set tone without being dictated by pre-existing music.
The document discusses the media production of Connor Barclay and Damien Johnson. It covers how they used conventions of horror/thriller genres in their poster and radio trailer. It also discusses how they developed conventions through their chase scene and challenged conventions through a lack of dialogue and diegetic sound. The document then covers their use of various media technologies in the research, construction, and evaluation stages of their project. This included using YouTube, Final Cut Express, GarageBand, and other tools. Finally, it summarizes the positive feedback received about the story, editing, soundtrack, camerawork and how it conveyed the psychological nature of the story.
The document outlines a production diary and progress plan for a student's music video project over several months. It details filming at a school recording studio in February, editing the footage to match the music in March. It notes uploading a first draft to YouTube and writing a halfway evaluation. It further describes gathering more footage and starting the final edit in April, then finishing and evaluating the final video by late April. The plan aims to film, edit, and refine the music video over multiple stages while gathering evidence and feedback along the way.
This document analyzes how a media product represents social groups through its characters and scenes. It describes several key moments: 1) A scene shows a government logo, establishing a spy is breaking in as part of a government plot. 2) A high-ranking official's suit indicates his social status. 3) The official recognizes the spy, showing they have a past relationship. 4) The official chases after the spy seriously but then calls his name, clarifying their connection to the audience. 5) A screenshot is compared to the film The Bourne Identity, showing similarities between the large, suppressed guns used by professional assassins.

This risk assessment evaluates hazards for filming at Harrop Fold High School in Manchester. It identifies potential risks like wires, electrical equipment, and confined spaces. Controls are in place like taping wires down, monitoring equipment use, and limiting people in small spaces. The assessment rates risks as low for wires and confined spaces due to controls, and moderate for electrical equipment. Further actions like using yellow tape and taking equipment breaks are recommended to improve safety.

The student evaluated their media project which was a thriller film opening. They analyzed how their opening used conventions from films like Firewall, Face Off, and Phone Booth. Their opening represented social groups through its mainly male cast and portrayal of a black teenage boy being shot. As an independent low-budget film, it would likely be distributed online or by a small distributor. They aimed it at their surveyed target audience of 17 year old males and kept them engaged through suspense and unanswered questions. In creating the project, they learned editing and camera skills using Adobe Premier and Canon cameras.
The document discusses various software used to create a soap opera production called Rowtown. YouTube and Vimeo were used to research examples, get feedback on drafts, and embed videos. The document summarizes common stock characters, narratives, settings, and iconography used in action thriller films. It then compares these clichéd elements to the choices made in the filmmaker's low-budget production. While it did include some standard props like guns, laptops, and dark clothing, it avoided sunglasses, briefcases, and focused on exterior night filming to sidestep concerns about realistic firearms. The story involved theft of secret information rather than people, and featured a military colonel hesitating to shoot his old friend who was now the "enemy," providing an original twist on the genre.
