The document discusses creating innovation-based growth in France through stronger partnerships between publicly funded research and private companies. It notes that while France invests heavily in research and has notable research achievements, only 1.25% of funding connects researchers and businesses. The Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Foundation aims to facilitate these connections by providing an administrative framework and seed funding for partnerships between its affiliated research institutions and companies. The Foundation hopes to establish a culture where industrial partners share challenges with academic researchers, helping innovations to emerge and be successfully developed.
Butterflies undergo a process called metamorphosis, starting as a caterpillar that eats food until it is ready for the next stage. The caterpillar then forms a chrysalis and transforms itself into a butterfly. Once emerged, the butterfly uses its hind wings and speed to evade predators while gathering energy from flowers. Though small, butterflies are difficult for predators to catch and not very nutritious if caught. Their colorful wings act as a warning to potential predators.
The document discusses issues with Facebook's Insights metrics for pages. It notes that meaningful data cannot be exported from fan posts and walls, leaving sentiment analysis impossible. Impressions data is also unclear, showing low numbers despite many likes and comments. The author complains about a day where their fanbase was reported as zero fans and questions how to manage an undefined "page quality" metric. The document promotes frustration with Facebook metrics and asks if they drive the reader insane.
