Tips and Suggestions for application
Visit student.ieee.org (Award Enter the portal)
○ Keep a check on the portal and don't miss a deadline
○ Follow IEEE social media pages such as MGA, R10 SAC etc
Finding the right person to nominate you
○ Don't look for the big names out there
○ Look for someone who have seen you struggle and grow as a
volunteer
○ Preferably the section SAC/SB counsellor

Tips and Suggestions for application
Listing your accomplishments in the order of importance
○ Use a blank document to list down all your contributions no matter how
small the contribution
○ Rank the accomplishments according to the order of importance
Primary Accomplishment, Acc1, Acc2, Acc3, Others(350 words)
○ The highest ranked one should be primary accomplishment and
maximum focus must be put in there
○ Back it with accomplishments 1, 2 and 3, the rest can be briefed to
others

Tips and Suggestions for application
List of Role(s) served within IEEE(350 words)
○ Can follow the latest one first or the most important one first,
the latter is most used and preferred
PDF (10 pages)
○ The PDF must back your primary and other important
accomplishments with graphs, relevant certificates, impact, data
and alignment with mission and vision of IEEE

Finding the right endorsers
○ Usually 2 LORs have to be presented
○ At Least one of the two must be someone who is well aware of
your accomplishments
○ The second one can be big names depending on the availability
Preparing LOR
○ Prepare a draft LOR for the endorsers, you know yourself the
best, and they will be able to alter the sample
○ Always consider their busy schedule while approaching for an
LOR

Reminding the nominator
○ LKW award portal will have a good window of around 2-3
months
○ Approach the nominator/endorser well in advance and remind
them occasionally

My experience
2016 and 2017 No position Joy of Volunteering
○ Worked for lifting the SB from dormant status to one of the best
in Kerala.

○ Was selected to the above mentioned positions in the year 2018

○ Founded and volunteered with the official disaster management
portal for the floods that has hit Kerala

My experience
Volunteering with SB
○ The place where you can come up with novel initiatives and
easily implement it
○ Volunteering in the SB level is more than enough to consider
applying for the LKW award
○ Focus on the level of impact and alignment with the mission and
vision of the organisation more than the level and scale of the
initiative
