- #2 Good afternoon, my name is Lynne Lance and I am with the Illinois Press Association. I would like to introduce you to ICES, the Illinois Contest Entry System. A contest site built for press association by a press association.
- #3 When developing this site, we wanted many things that other press associations also wanted.
- #4 This is your landing page. It could look just like this or you can create your own. It is separate from the system and serves as a starting point.
- #5 This is your registration page. Once the registrant clicks submit an email will be sent to the association.
- #6 After logging in, this is what the user will see. As you can see, there are no entries. To add entries, click “add entry”
- #7 First time registrants will need to choose their newspaper.
- #9 As you can see, the information for the newspaper was auto-filled upon selection. This information is imported from you database. The circulation is used to determine the contest division.
- #10 In Illinois, we have two contests, so the registrant would choose which one.
- #11 After selecting the contest, another drop-down menu appears to choose the contest category.
- #12 Once that is chosen, any special rules or instructions appear on the page.
- #13 Files are then uploaded at the bottom of the page. You can click add files or simply drag and drop your files here.
- #14 When the user saves the entry, the system goes back to this page, which now shows the entry along with the icon for the files.
- #15 This is an actual completed submission form from one of our newspapers. CLICK – you can see there’s an edit button next to each entry.
- #16 The edit function allows the newspaper to add or delete files and to change the wording in the text fields.
- #17 When the newspaper is done with all it’s entries, the user can click the billing link.
- #18 This shows each entry – total due – pay by paypal or send a check to your address.
- #19 On the administrators side, the association can see all the entries that have been uploaded. These can be sorted by all of the various headers at the top. Compound sorting is built in. CLICK – there is also an advanced search option.
- #20 Which gives you all of these various options.
- #21 The association can also choose to view an entry report – to quickly view all the entries. and
- #22 A billing report. All these reports can be exported to an excel or word document.
- #23 Here is a list of all the tabs built into the administrative side.
- #24 This is a list of all the newspapers.
- #25 Here are all the registrants. This is where I would edit the user to mark as inactive after payment and mark paid.
- #26 Here is the list of all the classes and special instructions.
- #27 You can see on this page that points have been generated for the winners. By assigning points, the system will automatically calculate the points. It can even handle weighted categories. CLICK – the winners tab will bring up only those entries that have won.
- #28 Now for the judging side. This is what the judge will see once signed-in. A log-in will show only one category and class to be judged.
- #29 There is a rating system built in for pre-judging. If a category has 50 entries, the judge may want to narrow down candidates by giving them a rating. Then the entries can be sorted by rating.
- #30 The judge can then select which place to award, and of course, add comments. Our system allows for ties and no placement awarded. However, the system is customizable.
- #31 Just as important as the contest is what you can do with the data. You can export several different types of reports for use in: CLICK
