To Whom It May Concern:
I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Ian Schumacher as a student and an athlete
through football and wrestling for one year at River Ridge High School.
Ian was more than the ideal student. In order to achieve the highest grades and respect, he
demonstrated outstanding leadership and maintained a clear sense of purpose.
The academics at River Ridge are challenging, and Ian fulfilled all the requirements with the
added challenge of honors and advanced courses. Ian was an outstanding student athlete.
His work ethic in the class room and athletics separated him from his peers. Ian was truly a
pleasure to work with and coach. His responsibility allowed him to excel in a rigorous
academic environment as well as in athletics.
With Ian’s superior knowledge and involvement in the wrestling program, he developed a
strong sense of confidence while always having a positive attitude. Therefore, I could
always depend on him to set the best example for his teammates as a leader. Because of
his natural leadership abilities, Ian was viewed as one of our captains by his teammates. On
account of his mature approach to his responsibilities, I often thought of Ian as a colleague.
His teammates fed off of his success in the classroom and on the mat and as Ian thrived in
the sport of wrestling so did his teammates.
Since his teammates, my fellow teachers, and I will always hold him in the highest esteem, I
sincerely recommend Ian Schumacher as the ideal candidate for Eastern Tennessee State
University.
