Elijah was afraid and fled into the wilderness, where God revealed himself not in the wind, earthquake or fire, but in the still small voice. God told Elijah to anoint Hazael king over Aram and Jehu king over Israel, and Elisha to succeed him as prophet. Jesus told his disciples to go ahead of him to the other side of the sea, while he dismissed the crowds. When they were in trouble because of the wind, he came to them walking on the sea. Peter called to him and began to walk on the water too, but sank when he lost faith. Jesus rescued him.
