This document provides instructions for using commuter checks to purchase Amtrak passes for commuting to UC Davis. 12. The deadline to order a
Commuter Check is the 10th
of the month to receive your
order for the following month.
Example: The deadline to order
a Commuter Check for August,
is July 10th.

13. Pre-tax payroll deduction
recommended for most faculty
and staff, if pre-tax payroll
deduction is not listed as an option,
you will be required to submit
a check or money order to TAPS.

14. You may choose to have a
Commuter Check sent to your home
address or campus address or held
for pick-up at TAPS or the Cashier’s
Office.

15. Choose a Commuter Check
valued less than the cost of
your monthly Amtrak pass. You
may choose the 10-Ride option
if you commute less than 3-days
per week.

16. Example: The monthly Amtrak pass
from Richmond costs $368 per
month. If I commute from Richmond
I will choose the Commuter Check
valued at $245 (I will pay $222
per month).
