Amoxicillin in dispersible tablet form is the recommended treatment for children with pneumonia but the appropriate use of the product is not widespread in most low resource settings. PATH is leading a team to transform the packaging of amoxicillin and the training of healthcare workers to increase its proper use.

• Results from the evaluation in Bangladesh indicate that:
• Providers who are trained and use these tools are more likely to adhere to
WHO recommended treatment guidelines.
• Caregivers who use these tools are nearly 4 times more likely to adherence to
the full 5 day amoxicillin DT treatment regimen than caregivers who do not.
• The tools have been found by key decision-makers and target users to be
useable, acceptable, and filling a critical need as countries transition to
amoxicillin and amoxicillin DT for pneumonia treatment.
