We’re going to make a nice cellphone tower using nothing but straws and illustration board!
A model cellphone tower which is as tall as you is truly a sight to behold and we’re going to make
one. Cellphone towers are such an engineering and aesthetically pleasing structures that they are often
referenced in various media like games, imaginations and art.
All you need are:
ˆ A bag of plastic straws
ˆ An illustration board

2. On how to make the cellphone tower, here are the steps.
Step 1. Cut the illustration board into many triangles.
Step 2. Add some details to guide you in cutting the triangle with a hole.

3. Step 3. Cut the inside triangle to create the triangle with a hole.
Step 4. Make a hole on the vertices of the triangle.

4. Step 5. Cut some illustration board strips.
Step 6. Glue some illustration board strips to the triangle so that the parts that has been cut to
create the hole of triangle will be covered and to give the triangle extra strength.

5. Step 7. Cut the extra illustration board strips popping out from the glued illustration board slips.
Step 8. Cut the bendable part of the plastic straw.

6. Step 9. Mark the straws. The distance between the hole of the straw to the attached triangle is
4 centimeters and the distance between two triangles is 16 centimeters.
Step 10. Insert the three straws on the hole of the triangle.

7. Step 11. Put some double - sided tape below the hole of the triangle so that the triangle will not
move.
Step 12. Insert the three straws on the hole of the triangle 16 centimeters away from the first
triangle.

8. Step 13. To give the structure more strength, apply hot - glue on the place where the triangles
and the straws meet.
Step 14. Apply the process of Step 13 to other triangles.

9. Step 15. Apply the process of Step 13 to other triangles until you reach the top.
Step 16. Now you have the structure of the cellphone tower.

10. Step 17. We’ll add some details like the antenna of the cellphone tower to make it realistic.
Step 18. Create other three stands for the future antenna.

11. Step 19. Make some illustration board strips.
Step 20. Paste these illustration board slips on the stands of the future antenna.

12. Step 21. Insert the straws on the stands to create the antenna and paste it on the top of the
cellphone tower.
Step 22. Put some Christmas lights on the top of the tower to make it more realistic.

13. Step 23. Connect the three Christmas lights in parallel.
Step 24. Cover the exposed wired of the Christmas lights using electrical tape.

14. Step 25. Create a battery holder using illustration board.
Step 26. Glue the base of the battery holder on the base of the cellphone tower.

15. Step 27. Run a long wire from the base of the cellphone tower to the Christmas lights.
Step 28. Test if the circuit is working by connecting a battery to the wires that are connected to
the Christmas lights.

16. Step 29. Now you have a cellphone tower with antennas and lights on!
NOTE: Beware of animals in your area, or you will end up having a destroyed cellphone tower
like mine..:-)
