2. A picture speaks is worth a thousand words...
A Vacation Rental business profits
from guest experiences
You need to provide an
environment of relaxation
Guests should be swept off their
feet
That’s the power of photography
It should make your guest pick your
property to competitor’s
3. Mimic a memory...
Try capturing moments at the property
You may create a setup – Should be easy to
recreate if a guest requests
Just showing a table in the living area won’t
do – Decorate it and set up a candlelight
dinner for romantic mood
This excites the potential guests about the
things they can do
Help them in creating a memorable
moment
4. Think things through...
Plan the shoot
Think about the time of the day you want to
capture
Weather needs to be suitable to the theme –
Rainy, Sunny, Snowy and so on
Pre-plan the shots you need and then look for
where to take them
You may spread out the photo shoot throughout
the year to capture seasons
Take pictures aligned with property description
sequence
5. Camera, Angles, & Other Technicalities...
You may use a smart-phone due to budget
constraints – That’s fine!
Use angles to your advantage- Eye level pictures
are less attractive than low-level ones
Don’t over do with brightness and contrast –
Take realistic pictures
Shoot in landscape mode – Capture maximum
area
Use Panorama mode
If possible, borrow a camera and learn it’s
features before shooting
6. ¼ Rule
1/4th of the photos should cover nearby
attractions – Local activities, Restaurants, Beaches,
National Parks and so on
These give potential guests ideas of things to do
They make them feel invested and connected
with the property
It creates excitement, enthusiasm and curiosity
However, focus the remaining 3/4th on the
property as that is what the guests are most
interested in
7. Consider hiring a professional photographer...
If you are up for it, hire a professional photographer
It might be costly, however, the quality of work will overpower
the costs
Think of it as a one-time investment
Otherwise, you may hire a student photographer – reduced
costs, better quality work if not as good as professional photos
Reduces your burden – Not everyone can be a skilled
photographer
