How to build up confidence
What I am going to share with you is:
 A basic understanding of how confidence works
 An example of how I gained more confidence in a specific area
 A few techniques you can use to build up your confidence in any area you’d like to.
Understanding Confidence (Basic)
First of all, confidence is nothing you can take as a general thing, because it always applies to
a specific area. For example dating or speaking publicly. Everyone has areas where he/she is 100%
confident in! If you are at home and you go into your kitchen to grab a drink notice that you do it with
confidence. Notice how natural it feels to you just taking this simple action. You feel like you can do it
over 1000 times without failing once.
Well… that’s all confidence is. It is a state of mind. You don’t have any negative thoughts about how
you could fail when you grab a drink in your own kitchen, do you o_0? If you lack confidence in a
specific area it all comes down to your self-perception. If you perceive yourself as someone who is not
good at public speaking or article writing or approaching the opposite sex because of (…please add
your factor…), then that is literally what you will become.
Even though all those skills are 1004274% possible for you to achieve, you just have a lack of
experience and that fact makes all the difference. If you take the action physically and mentally to
redesign your self-image, those skills will feel like a natural part of you.
My Personel Experience
I personally had a really big issue with a lack of confidence in all kinds of social situations in the past. I
was always the type of guy who held his opinions back, who didn’t express what he was
thinking because I didn’t want to make a wrong impression or offend others. Always looking for their
approval and opinions to determine if I can be certain about my ideas and actions.
I found the solutions to fix that by accident on the internet. I wasn’t really looking to change that state
because that’s how I was confrontable with and I held this stupid belief that this was just how I was
born and that there is nothing to do about it. Well…this woke me up.
First I started to change my perception of all those people around me who already are extremely
confident in socializing with new people they meet or in defending their own point of view and so on.
Instead of being envious about their great ability I started to analyze their behavior in certain situations
and saw them as some kind of “Mentors“ even though I rarely got in contact with them.
I implemented the techniques I’m going to share with you in a minute and started to break out of my
ordinary behavior every time I had the opportunity to. I also began to create these opportunities for
myself even if it felt uncomfortable at first. Every time I had the chance to act differently in a situation I
told myself “what would one of those confident guys do” and translated their behavior i picked up into
my own actions.
It sure took me some time to break out of my comfort-zone and really get into the flow, but as soon as
that happened I saw the results coming flying at me. I never felt so powerful before. Creating results by
yourself makes you feel like there is no challenge in the world you wouldn’t be able to handle. At least that’s
what I experienced.
Simple Techniques
Now there are two techniquesI want to tell you something about. If you manage to make those a habit for ~the
next 2-3 months yourconfidence levels will EXPLODE. They are just as simple as powerful. You first want to
create a list of areas you are already confident in and areas you are lacking in confidence.
1 Daily Visualization: All
you have to do is to “Daydream” for 5 minutes. First pick one of the things you listed where you
feel super confident in. Now be aware of that feeling and capture it in your memory. Next put
yourself into a situation you would be extremely unconfident in and project this feeling of
confidence you saved for earlier onto that situation and imagine how you solve it with ease. Make
sure you vision is as detailed as possible regarding the things you see, hear, taste, feel and
so on. Do this for 5 Minutes straight every day over the next 2-3 months. This will help you to
easily take positive action when facing a real situation that gives you an opportunity to
break thru your old behavior patterns.
2 Daily Affirmations:
You are going to tell the following sentences to yourself every day for 5 Minutes straight. The first
one is: “I love being confident.” the second one is: “I am independent of the good and bad opinions
of others.” This will help you to reframe your self-image.
Whatever it is you want in life…If you have a burning desire and determination to get it, there is no way you
are going to fail.
