  • #9 Is space hacking for real? ISEE-3 reboot - small team of space hackers attempt salvage Launched in 1978 - no onboard computer, no memory, like a RC airplane Returned 36 years later
  • #10 Dennis Wingo, ultimate space hacker & technoarchaeologist Team needed to recreate equipment to reach ISEE-3 Software defined radio - GNU radio open software NASA worked with team to attempt salvage As long as team kept achieving gating requirements, allowed to proceed
  • #11 what about launching your own hacks? cubesats, nanosats, picosats, pocket satellites

  • #20 Innovation consultant at American Museum of Natural History OpenSpace open source multiplatform software to simulate space uses AMNH Digital Universe API planetariums, home computers, game consoles and VR, smartphones, web Developed as part of a 5 year grant fully funded by NASA Open source community launching later this year 1. Rosetta / Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko imaging campaign. We have used the amazing model created by "amateur" image processor Mattias Malmer, who did photogrammetry on the NAVCAM images from Rosetta. This proof of concept video uses only twelve images and also shows the trajectory of the spacecraft. 2. New Horizons / Jupiter gravity boost, 4x4 mosaic of Red Spot (near terminator because of low light sensitivity of the NH LORRI camera), February 27th, 2007. This video shows the combination of NASA navigation and articulation files (NAIF SPICE) and images, with time stamps, from the NASA Planetary Data Service (PDS). The SPICE files give us precise aiming in time and position, and the images then fall into precise position, relative to one another without any post processing on our part. (The yellow delineation along the trajectory marks hours)
