The email and all of its attachments are placed on the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol server or SMTP as outgoing mail.

The SMTP server checks the Domain Name Server or DNS to locate the recipient’s email server as an IP address then transfers the
message. You’ll learn more about IP Addresses in the next session.

To review, the email journey begins with the Email Client Server. When the user hits SEND, the email is forwarded to the SMTP

the SMTP checks with the DNS to find the IP Address for the recipient and then sends the email to the recipients’ Email Client Server. The
recipient downloads the email and the cycle is complete.
