The Lingayen Catholic Credit Cooperative (LCCrC) was organized in 1964 and has over 13,000 members. It provides various community support programs such as scholarship programs, assistance with housing and livelihood projects, education support, and disaster relief. It has been recognized for its community development and involvement efforts, winning an award in 2013 from Gawad Parangal. Some of its major activities include providing scholarships to over 500 students annually, assisting over 1,000 members with job placement abroad, and conducting training programs for cooperatives.
The EU provided initial aid of €22.6 million in response to the 2015 earthquakes in Nepal. EU humanitarian and civil protection experts deployed rapidly to help coordinate relief efforts. The EU supported the Health Emergency Operation Centre, school retrofitting projects, and the Post Disaster Needs Assessment to guide recovery. Moving forward, the EU will focus on temporary learning centers, reaching remote areas, and nutrition to support recovery while continuing essential development work across Nepal.
The TASO Social Support program aims to promote self-sustenance for households of clients registered with The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) in Uganda. The program focuses on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and Sustainable Livelihood programming. It has supported over 5,000 families through education assistance, helped 4,000 children continue their education through vocational training, and helped over 10,000 households set up livelihood programs in agriculture. The OVC program focuses on six areas - education, food and nutrition, health, economic strengthening, psychosocial support, and child protection - to improve wellbeing and enable children to live healthy lives.
Proposal for a sustainable community medical clinic at koindu 1Usman Daramy
The document proposes establishing a sustainable community medical clinic in Koindu, Sierra Leone to address health needs. The clinic would provide primary care, laboratory services, accommodations, and community education. It would be integrated into a larger community development platform including an agricultural food processing activity to promote sustainability. The clinic aims to improve health access for the marginalized region affected by civil conflict and Ebola, and would operate through generating revenues and community support after an initial two year subsidy period.
