Role of Supreme court in todays Politics of Pakistan

1. HONORABLE SUPREME COURT
Supreme court is one of the most HonorableInstitution
after Army and this honorabilityreached its peak when an
elected PM was disqualified and sent home in the name of
accountabilityand was enunciated in way that now there
will be accountabilityof all.
Unfortunately, the decisions made by Supreme court in
othercases just after this disqualification didn’t seems to
invigorate the precedent set by supreme court. here are
some of the cases.

2. Pakistani court acquitted The last of Asif zardari’s case
but it’s interesting to know that court didn’t give clean
chit to Zardari as if no evidence was presented but it was
the missing record which cleared Asif Zardari’s hands.
Foreign evidences which the NAB had against AZ they
can’t be presented as the two peoplewho received them
12 years ago, one of them is dead and the other is out of
the country, and by law the peoplewho get the documents
can only present it in the court. while those local
evidences NAB said that they had given it to Court but
the court had somehow lost them.
According to NAB they had submitted the documentsin
court in 2001 and that document is now missing and
because of that this case had to be acquitted But instead of
interrogating this matter that How the evidence had been
Lost? and Who is responsiblefor it? They gave a clean
chit to Asif Zardari. This clearly shows how political this
decision was.
Next is that of Zardari’s close friend Dr.Asim who is
accused of Rs.462 billion corruptionin land scam, public
fraud and money laundering. Now The apex court
directed the National AccountabilityBureau (NAB) and
the Federal Investigation Agency to remove Asim’s name
from the ECL, so that DR Asim can go on his medical
tour abroad know that Pakistan have a history of such
excuses and a recent example of it is Musharraf who on

3. the decision of Supreme court went abroad for his
medical treatment but never came back. Medical trips are
used in Pakistan as NROs. This decision by Court again
show its POLITICAL stance.
Third one is that of Benazir Bhutto(Late). Court in its
todays verdict declared Musharraf as absconder, it’s the
same Musharraf who was sent abroad on Courts order
plus Saud Aziz, who was the police chief in Rawalpindi at
the time of Bhutto’sassassination is sentenced to 17 years
and ordered to pay a fine of Rs0.5 million because of
washing the place of Benazir’s Bhuttoassassination. it’s a
strange and really poor decision. As he has been punished
but the person who ordered him to wash that place is not
even mentioned in the court’s decision as he was from MI
(the reason behind for not blaming or naming him).
Pakistani courts have a History of such cases but these are
the prominent one’s after the disqualification of a PM. So
from these cases you can clearly see How interested these
Honorableinstitutions are in ACCOUNTABILITY.
