The Honey Child Sista Circle was created in 2013 to provide a safe space for women of color who are disillusioned with organized religion and seeking spiritual growth. It aims to help women reclaim their sexuality, spirituality, and cultural awareness while healing physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The founder had a personal spiritual transformation and created the circle combining her experience in ministry, empathy, and clairvoyance with metaphysics, philosophy, and sacred sexuality to help raise consciousness.

2. The vision for the Honey Child Sista Circle was birthed in the spirit of our founder, Dionne “Miss Buttafly” Wood in
2013, when the first “Goddess Circle” was held in Atlanta, GA. After years of personal transformation and spiritual
evolution, the vision for HSCS has now evolved to meet the unique psycho-spiritual and emotional needs of women
of color who find themselves disillusioned with organized religion and thirsting for something more. There is an axiom
that says, “not all who wander are lost.” HSCS is here to provide a safe space for the wandering women to find
restoration, affirmation, and community.
The term “Honey Child” is an African-American colloquialism used as a term of endearment to denote closeness and
affection. The use of “Honey Child” in our name is also a reference to the Yoruba Orisha, Oshun, of West Africa. She
is the representation of sweet waters, rivers, lakes, and streams. She is the Orisha of love, sex, beauty, femininity,
pregnancy, and divination. According to the Yoruba religion, Ifa, it is said that when the Supreme god, Olodumare, set
about to create the Earth, he sent Oshun along with several other male Orisha. These male Orisha dismissed Oshun,
believing her to be an unnecessary nuisance. So, the story goes that Oshun left Earth and made her home on the Moon
with only her reflection in a mirror to keep her spirits up. When Olodumare sent for word on how things were going
on Earth, the male Orisha reported that they were unable to create or sustain anything. Olodumare asked about
Oshun’s whereabouts. When he heard that she’d been dismissed, he commanded the male Orisha to do whatever was
in their power to get her back, as she was essential to the process of creation. They threw her a party and she returned
to Earth, and in so doing, restored balance to a ravaged world. Honey is sacred to Oshun.

for women who are in spiritual transition to gather and share
as we:

• Restore our Cultural, Universal, and Spiritual Awareness
• Heal Ourselves Physically, Emotionally, and Spiritually.
Our vision is to “Awaken the Goddess Within” every
woman.
Our core values are Femininity, Education, Sensuality,
Meditation, Action, and Consciousness
Our core demographic is women of color, ages 25-45,
with a primary focus on Black women.

7. A Goddess is the form that a feminine archetype may take. Goddess types
represent models of ways of being and behaving that we women all share and
recognize from the collectiveconsciousness.
Understanding goddess types offers a woman very specific means of increased
self-awareness of herself, her relationship to her lover/partner, her way of
parenting her children, her inner urges in her self-expression and creativity. In
this way, we bring into balance our hidden goddess qualities and better
actualize our gifts.
Through understanding these ancient goddesses, woman of today can
reconnect with their own inner cycles, physically as well as
psychologically/spiritually. Goddess cycles of disappearance/reappearance,
creation/destruction, nurturing/devouring, birth/death, giving/taking away.

9. Aset (Isis) – Daughter of Nut, wife of Asar (Osiris), mother of Heru (Horus). The personification
of the female creative power that conceived and brought forth every living creature and thing.
Bast – Protector of pregnant women as well as a pleasure-loving goddess who reveled in music
and dance. She also protected men against disease and evil spirits. She was generally considered the
personification of the beneficial, fertilizing power of the sun.
Hathor – Goddess of the royal family, the sun, dancing, the arts, music, and the sky. Also Het-
Heru.
Oya – Yoruba Orisha, Warrior-Queen, sister-wife of Shango, to whom she gave the power to
create storms. She is the goddess of thunder, lightening, tornadoes, winds, rainstorms, and
hurricanes.
Sekhmet – the lion-headed solar goddess of the Egyptian pantheon and the Crone aspect of the
Hathor-Bast-Sekhmet triad of Memphis. Daughter of Ra. Mother of Nefer-Tem. Represented the
fierce, destructive power of the sun.
The Green Tara – A female Buddha and meditation deity. Arguably the most popular goddess in
the Buddhist pantheon. She is considered the goddess of universal compassion who represents
virtuous and enlightened activity.
Yemeja – Yoruba Orisha of the ocean and motherhood. She is a protector of children.

10. "After going through my own personal metamorphosis a few years ago, I wondered what my service to
humanity might be now that I was no longer living in the paradigm of organized religion. It dawned on
me one day that what worked for me might work for other people, especially women. Eventually, I decided
to combine my years of experience as an ordained minister, empath, and clairvoyant with my broadening
understanding of metaphysics, philosophy, sacred sexuality, and spirituality into a practice that will help
to heal and raise the consciousness of those with whom I come in contact. Getting in touch and staying in
touch with my intuitive self has been the most important endeavor I've ever undertaken. This one step
has been critical in helping me to define divinity for myself. That's where the vision for this comes from. I
believe that if you heal a woman, you can heal a nation. That's really all I'm trying to do."
