Happy New Year! A history of this holiday!
First thought of the new year is to party and have a lot of fun!
How it started! New years has been known to be the oldest of all holidays. In ancient Babylon around 2000 BC it began with the new moon after the 1st day of spring. The Babylonians would celebrate new years for 11 days. The Romans kept this tradition going but celebrated it in the month of March. However, their calendar was messed with by the emperors and soon wasn't synchronized with the sun. To put the calendar in order the Roman senate declared January 1st to be the beginning of the new year. The early Catholic church had condemned these traditions as paganism but as Christianity became widespread the church soon became part of these celebrations. The western nations were the only ones who had celebrated this holiday for the next 400 years
10-9-8-7…..3-2-1! The countdown is definitely a tradition all over the world People gather together either in huge groups or a small family Couples kiss at the time of 12 am after the countdown!
