Judaism traces its origins back to Abraham, who was commanded by God to move to Canaan. There, God established a covenant with Abraham, promising that he would make Abraham's descendants into a great nation and that through Abraham all families of the earth would be blessed. God also promised Abraham that he would give him and his descendants the land of Canaan forever.
