S. Himmelstein and Company invented the rotary transformer specifically for dynamic torque
measurement. A rotary torquemeter or torque transducer measures torque in a rotating shaft.
Himmelstein builds rotary transducers for measuring torque values from 25 lbf-in (select models
go lower) up to 21,000,000 lbf-in. These are used in industries ranging from automotive and
aerospace manufacturing to steel and paper-making and chemical processing. Their rotary
transducers sense torque with high-precision strain gages.

Himmelstein Calibration:
S. Himmelstein and Company provides accredited ISO/IEC
17025:2017 calibrations from 10 ozf-in to 4 million lbf-in
(0.07 Nm to 452,000 Nm). The 4,000,000 lbf-in stand is
one of only four worldwide that are accredited for
calibrations above 1,000,000 lbf-in (113 kNm) and it has
the lowest measurement uncertainty of any.
They have nine accredited stands that provide optimal
measurement uncertainty and avoid queuing delays if
using fewer stands. Calibrations are made for Himmelstein
transducers as well as those from HBM, Honeywell, Lebow,
Futek, AKO, Manner, Magtrol, Interface, GIF, Kistler, Lorenz,
ETH, Sensor Developments, Sensor Data, Omega, Datum,
Norbar, PCB and more.

Calibration certificates summarizing results and certifying ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation are
always provided. With Himmelstein’s calibration service you get the best results from your torque
sensors while complying with International Standards.

Commitment to Providing Highly Accurate Performance
S. Himmelstein and Company utilizes a Coordinate
Measuring Machine as part of their ongoing commitment to
developing and producing torque measurement products
with the highest possible performance. An environmentally
controlled room was constructed specifically for this
equipment. This room provides precise temperature and
humidity control along with a contaminant free environ-
ment. The result is optimal dimensional measurement
performance from the CMM.
The enhanced measurement capability offered by the CMM
allows the ability to maintain tighter tolerances of critical
machined components. The majority of S. Himmelstein and
Company sensing products are manufactured in their in-
house machine shop. The CMM will give the opportunity for
more consistent dimensional control of all parts resulting in
overall improved product quality.
