Trends spotted at various design events and shows included African-inspired designs using bold patterns, bright colors, and tribal elements. Dip dye techniques were popular, creating gradient color effects on objects. The Memphis style from the 1980s saw a revival, known for bold combinations of primary and pastel colors using precious materials. Circus-inspired furniture and installations recalled circus shows and funfairs with surreal black and white patterns and statement fixtures. Stacking multiple items was seen as a way to save space and allow for customization and play.

We found stacked items EVERYWHERE. Stacking is used as a very functional thing; to save space when you want to put it away. But it is also used to customize and combine over and over
again, to play with as grown-up toys or as a decorative ‘tribal’ element to create miniature totempoles.
