1. Help Wanted Script
EXT. SCENE 1. CITY VIEW. MORNING.
Scene opens on shot of Auckland City Skyline. The next few shots are
different areas of the city at different stages of sunrise. In the
background there is an orchestral piece that creates a sense of
suspense but underlies the voiceover and other subsequent background
sounds (shower and phone).
EXT. SCENE 2. HOUSE. MORNING.
Opens on an exterior shot of EVAN’s apartment. Tilts from ground
upwards.
INT. SCENE 3. BEDROOM. MORNING.
Wide shot (high angle/birds eye view) of EVAN SILVA in bed awake.
This then cuts to an extreme close-up shot of EVAN SILVA’s eyes as he
stares at the ceiling in silent anticipation for his alarm to go off.
He is possibly restless from one of his jobs the night before which
justifies his heightened state.
EVAN SILVA (V.O.)
People ask me if I'm content with my job. I usually just stick to a
regular response and shrug off the question.
INT. SCENE 4. BEDROOM. MORNING.
Mid-shot of EVAN SILVA’s hand turning off the alarm. Six shot snub-
nosed revolver sits next to it.
INT. SCENE 5. BEDROOM. MORNING.
Close-up shot of EVAN SILVA’s feet and beside his feet is a black
duffel bag with money on top.
EVAN SILVA (V.O.)
But really it's a very demanding occupation.
INT. SCENE 6. BATHROOM. MORNING.
Establishing shot of bathroom showing shower which is fogged up from
the warm water and condensation. The sound of running water is heard.
EVAN SILVA (V.O.)
The thing about my job is, I have two of them. While that might seem
justifiable with the rough times and cuts and economy ever shifting,
it's not that simple.
INT. SCENE 7. BATHROOM. MORNING.
Over the shoulder shot of EVAN SILVA using a face cloth to scrub his
face whilst simultaneously obscuring his appearance until he pulls it
away and reveals his face (if condensation obstructs the reflection
in the mirror EVAN SILVA will wipe it away in one clean motion). EVAN
opens up the mirror cabinet
2. INT. SCENE 8. BATHROOM. MORNING.
Match on action of EVAN taking his medication from the bathroom
mirror cabinet.
INT. SCENE 9. BATHROOM. MORNING.
EVAN takes his medication, after which his phone begins to ring out
of frame, causing EVAN to look down, pick it up then bring it into
frame. He answers the phone and looks at the mirror. Cut to black.
EVAN SILVA (V.O.)
One of them is working at a bar for my boss, serving drinks to
clients so you hear a lot of information. But the other...is
very...disruptive.
EMPLOYER
We have another job for you.
EVAN SILVA
I’m listening.
