Stranded Assets and Thermal Coal in Japan: An analysis of environment-related...Turlough Guerin GAICD FGIA
The document analyzes the risk of stranded assets from coal-fired power stations in Japan. It finds that the amount of planned and under construction coal capacity greatly exceeds what is needed to replace retiring plants, putting Japan at risk of overcapacity. It estimates that stranded coal assets could total 6.9-8.9 trillion yen under different scenarios where plants are phased out over 5-15 years. Certain utilities like Tokyo Electric Power Co have high exposure due to their coal assets and plans. The analysis aims to inform decision-making around Japan's energy transition given investment risks from climate policy, renewable growth, and other factors challenging the economics of coal power.

The amount of people in Arab Nations holding a B.Sc., B.A., Diploma, M.Sc., and Ph.D. is huge (1), most of which include a project/research applying or explaining the theoretical part of the thesis. Unfortunately most of them do not reflect a real problem or contribute in solving an existing problem. Therefore you can detect hundreds of thousands of thesis and research works being kept on the shelf unutilized.
On the other hand a huge number of organizations with different categories such as manufacturing, service, education, health care, nonprofit, etc.; have severe problems needing to be solved. In addition to another big problems that are facing our Arabic Communities such as unemployment.

The overall aim is to help practitioners integrate resilience into development and humanitarian programs.
Guidelines for Resilience Systems Analysis: How to analyse risk and build a r...Dr Lendy Spires
Everybody is talking about resilience. The idea that people, institutions and states need the right tools, assets and skills to deal with an increasingly complex, interconnected and evolving risk landscape, while retaining the ability to seize opportunities to increase overall well-being, is widely accepted.
In reality, however, it has not been easy to translate this sound idea into good practice, mostly because people in the field don’t yet have the right tools to systematically analyse resilience, and then integrate resilience aspects into their development and humanitarian programming.
This guidance aims to fix that problem
In this document you will find a step by step approach to resilience systems analysis, a tool that helps field practitioners to:
• prepare for, and facilitate, a successful multi-stakeholder resilience analysis workshop
• design a roadmap to boost the resilience of communities and societies
• integrate the results of the analysis into their development and humanitarian programming

Dr. Vivek Lall A Exceptional Personality
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
General Atomics Magnet Technologies Center
Welcomes Philippe Étienne, Ambassador of
France Ambassador Étienne Tours GA Facility
Fabricating the Central Solenoid Modules for
the ITER Project in France San Diego, June 15
– This week, His Excellency Philippe Étienne,
Ambassador of the French Republic, visited
General Atomics (GA) and toured the Magnet
Technologies Center, a cutting-edge
production facility in Poway, California where
GA is fabricating the Central Solenoid
Modules for the ITER project.
ITER is an international collaboration of 35
nations that will prove the feasibility of fusion
as a means of producing virtually limitless
clean, safe, and sustainable energy.
During the visit, which was arranged and
hosted by Dr. Vivek Lall, Chief Executive
of the General Atomics Global
Corporation, Ambassador Étienne saw
several stages of the Central Solenoid
fabrication process where modules are
undergoing the final phases of
construction. Joining Ambassador
Étienne was Julie Duhaut-Bedos, Consul
General of France in Los Angeles.
“It was a great privilege to host
Ambassador Étienne at General Atomics
to showcase the full range of our
capabilities in the defense, energy, and
technology sectors,” said Dr. Lall.

“General Atomics is proud of its
strong collaboration with France. This
visit provided an invaluable
opportunity for Ambassador Étienne
to see a few of our facilities and learn
more about our other areas of
expertise. I look forward to continuing
these conversations as we look to the
future.”
“General Atomics and French
organizations have a strong
relationship in both the Defense and
Energy sectors, as well as in the
unmanned field, that meet both
France's and the United-States'
important interests,” said
Ambassador Étienne.
“I was deeply honored to welcome
Ambassador Étienne to the Magnetic
Technologies Center at General
Atomics to see our fabrication
process first-hand,” said Dr. Anantha
Krishnan, Senior Vice President of the
Energy Group. “General Atomics is
fabricating the most powerful pulsed
superconducting electromagnet ever
built, for ITER, and we are proud to
play this integral part in the quest for
fusion energy.
Having recently returned from visiting
the ITER facility in France, I was
pleased to show Ambassador Étienne
how General Atomics is playing a key
role in the success of this ambitious
project.” The Central Solenoid is a
critical component of the ITER
experiment. Fully assembled, this
massive magnet will be 59 feet tall,
14 feet in diameter, and weigh a
thousand tons. Often referred to as
the “heart of the ITER facility,” it will
drive 15 million amperes of electrical
current that will be used to shape and
control the fusion reaction.
“ITER is the largest scientific
experiment in human history, with
the top talent from across the world
working together to ensure its
success. It truly is an honor to be part
of this effort.” said John Smith, Senior
Director of Engineering and Projects
and Program Manager for Central
Solenoid Module Fabrication. “The
design of the Central Solenoid is
complex, and we are bringing the full
weight of GA’s expertise in
engineering and precision
manufacturing to this project to
ensure its success.
I am deeply appreciative of
Ambassador Étienne’s support as we
complete this project and eagerly
await the first plasma at ITER.” The
Central Solenoid modules are being
manufactured under the direction of
the US ITER project, managed by the

Ridge National Laboratory. Under the ITER agreement, all members share equally in the
technology developed while funding only a portion of the total cost. The United States is
contributing approximately nine percent of ITER’s total construction costs.
The Central Solenoid is one of 12 hardware systems that US ITER, funded by the DOE’s Office
of Fusion Energy Sciences, is providing to the project. Most of the funds appropriated by
Congress for ITER are used to support high-tech jobs and manufacturing in the United States
by funding in-kind contributions like the Central Solenoid.
It takes two years to complete a single module using a range of specialized
manufacturing capabilities. Two of the seven Central Solenoid modules have
arrived at the ITER facility in France. The additional modules, including one that
will act as a spare, are at various stages of fabrication. The Central Solenoid will
be assembled as the modules arrive on site in support of the assembly of the
device in preparation for first plasma.

Her educational background

Deborah custom designs all
transformation projects based
on an in-dept needs
assessment, and her solutions
bring solid results.
Examples:
1. BOLT-ON - Banner Ontario
Leadership Team: During
strategic planning with
Georgian College’s IT
Department, it was revealed
that each time the
government required new
reports, they would need to
bring in a Sunguard consultant
to reprogram their system.
Curious, I asked whether it’s
the same for all colleges using
the Banner ERP system?
How many colleges? 16 across
Ontario. I suggested those
colleges band together to
purchase Sunguard’s services.
The response was, “But, we’re
competitors!” I said, not on
your ERP system! We then
hosted a Coopetition session
with the aim for all colleges to
sign on as collaborators.
By the end of that session 15/16 collages
signed a Collaborative Agreement for joint
procurement, sharing of programming
experts, and joint training and
development. The BOLT-ON network has
been held up as one of Canada’s top
collaborative networks and still thrives to
this day, 16 years later.

layout.

The conveyor system was rearranged, but every time the consultant returned,
it was back where is had originally been placed. No buy-in. Deborah was
brought in to help establish buy-in, but her project became much larger than
that after a needs assessment was conducted. The Brantford plant was once
considered the “Cowboys” of the SC Johnson family of 11 plants across North
America.
They were highly innovative, developing fantastic products like Glade. When
innovative, one develops breakthrough solutions, but can also fall hard. Head
office slapped them with Kaizen (incremental improvement) and Six Sigma…
both squelch innovation. After the needs assessment, I suggested we design
initiatives that would swing the pendulum mid-way to Creative. The company
achieved incredible results in the first year of this change initiative. Seeing
this, the other 10 plants wanted in, so we developed a Best Practice program,
rolled out across the SC Johnson system. Overall, a rewarding 3-year initiative.
As a speaker, Deborah is passionate about sharing wisdom with others on
topics such as creativity and innovation, collaboration and coopetition,
leadership and teamwork, and community economic development, having
presented to audiences from around the globe and around the corner. Her
views on leadership have been featured in national and local newspapers like
the Globe & Mail and Huronia Business Times, and she’s appeared on radio
and TV talk shows such as Your Business, Georgian Bay Life and Daytime.
Deborah is honoured to have received Barrie’s top business award: the Arch
Brown Entrepreneur Award of Excellence, from the Greater Barrie Chamber of
Commerce and the City of Barrie in November 2011, Barrie’s Favourite
Conference Centre 2020 for Office Inc! Corp., an office suites, meeting facility
and food business incubator she founded in 2017, and Workspace Leader for

A Foodie through-and-through, in 2020, Deborah co-authored a beautifully

She and her Great Dane, Koko, will soon re-locate to the Balkan Mountains in
