The main characteristics of heavy metal are the distorted sound of guitars, dense bass-and-drum sound and vocals. The most typical bands line up is a bassist, a drummer, a rhythm guitarist, a lead guitarist and a singer.

3. The Roots of Heavy Metal Some of the Main bands that contributed to Heavy Metal were Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath,Metallica,AC/DC,MotorHead,Jimi Hendrix, MegaDeth and Iron Maiden.

4. The fans Heavy metal fans are known as MetalHeads or Headbangers. Their clothes are normally leather jackets, motorcycle boots , blue or black jeans, kutte vests that are often adorned with badges and pins. Other accessories are bullet belts, spike bracelets or necklaces, skull rings, iron crosses and sometimes egyptian Jewelry. They like to modify their bodies too: fans often have tattoos and sometimes piercings.
