2. Healthcare
On physical therapist the experts improve a life of people through exercise, offering
education to patient and also hands-on care. They do examine and develop the treatment plan for
the purpose improving the ability to move, managing the pain, preventing disability, and
restoring the function of the body.
The conclusions given by the researchers about the RICE had inferior quality, and even I
can recommend that they were inconclusive. Ice does not do much for the swelling after 48hrs.
Despite Donna having more trust in the sports medicine physician, she should have then
researched since many authors have criticized the use of RICE for the medication of injuries. In
this case, Donna attending the physicians was the best choice. As soon as a person gets an injury
for example a knee or ankle sprain, this can get rid of the pain, stimulate the healing to that
swelling area. Resting similarly is good and also protects the injured, that is, the sore area. It is
untrue to say there is evidence about if icing reduces the healing process and period. Researchers
show that ice never impedes the healing process at all. As a practitioner, I would argue that it
increases the signs of muscle damage following the eccentric exercise.
I would recommend METH (movement, elevation, traction, and heat) as better to be
applicable than RICE. Movement- facilitates the flowing of blood, elevations- this allows the
movement and assists in removing the swelling, traction- takes the pressure off the injury
through, promoting the movement of the fluid. Lastly, Heat-inflammation is the body's natural
response to issues about damage and thus makes blood accumulate to an area so that heat will
speed the healing process instead of the ice.
