4. Is sunscreen really
necessary for lips?
Absolutely. In the past, it
wasn't unusual for lip products
to come with little or no SPF.
Thankfully, many companies
have upped the level of
protection in lip balms. That's
critical because skin cancers
on the lower lip, in particular,
are especially aggressive.
"These cancers are
dangerous, as they're more
likely to spread," explains
Jeremy Green, MD, a Miami
dermatologist. Look for a balm
with an SPF of at least 30
