This document provides an overview of current research on the impact of racism on the mental health of people of color in the United States. It discusses how racism has caused physical, emotional, and spiritual crises for most ethnic groups. Racism exists at interpersonal, internalized, institutional, and structural levels. The document then examines research on the effects of racism and racial trauma on specific ethnic groups, including African Americans, Native Americans, Latinx people, and Asian Americans. It concludes by discussing recommendations for racial healing between dominant and non-dominant groups.
