For kids of 0~ 14 years old: 140 Hospital Discharges of Asthma.
Note:
Hospitalization counts only the most severe cases of these diseases. It does not reflect the much
larger number of people who are managing chronic illness through medication, visits to outpatient
clinics, lost days of school and work, and reduced quality of life.
Data description:
Total cases = Number of people were treated in hospitals for more than one day with the primary
diagnosis of that disease.
Hospitalization Charges = the amount charged to patients and/or insurers
Hospital Discharges = the number of patients who leave a hospital after being treated in the
hospital for more than one day with the primary diagnosis of that disease. For diseases with very
low mortality rate such as asthma, the hospital discharge nearly equals to the Total cases.
