readers, participants reported that reading a medical blog influenced their intention to take
preventative health actions. This effect was stronger for a personal story blog than for a statistical
blog, but perceptions of risk did not mediate these findings.

confirmed these findings. Participants cited wanting to stay updated on their friend or family
member’s condition as the most common motivation for reading these blogs, but they also
reported that the blogs were helpful in other ways.

advertisements, sponsorships and digital products. They can also be an excellent way to make

health concerns within their niche, such as post-menopausal wellness or healthy nutrition.
