A harp is a stringed instrument where the strings are perpendicular to the soundboard and are classified as chordophones. Harps and lyres are usually plucked but some bowed lyres still exist in Scandinavia. The concert harp has 47 strings to pluck and seven pedals to change notes and requires skill to play despite its elegant appearance.
