A boy named Ronnie gives an oral presentation about his grandfather's dog, Hachiko. Years ago, an Akita puppy was shipped from Japan to the United States but got lost at a train station. The puppy was found by a college professor named Parker Wilson. Though his wife did not want to keep the puppy, Parker bonded with it. The puppy's collar had a symbol meaning "good luck" in Japanese, so Parker named the dog Hachiko. Hachiko and Parker became very close, with Hachiko walking Parker to and from the train station every day. After Parker suddenly died of a heart attack at work, Hachiko continued faithfully returning to the train station every day
