Gustavo Pereira is a prominent Venezuelan poet, essayist, and literary critic. He was born in 1940 in Margarita Island, Venezuela and received his PhD in literary studies from the University of Paris. Pereira has published over 20 books including poetry, essays, and literary notes. He is considered one of the most genuine voices in contemporary Venezuelan literature. Pereira has received several awards including the National Prize of Literature in Venezuela in 2001.
