The Los Angeles Department of Transportation has made progress installing new bike lanes and sharrows. They installed 200 miles of bikeways and 20 miles of sharrows in just two years. A green lane pilot project on Spring St and 1st St saw mixed results, with better compliance after repainting the lanes and allowing more cure time for the new pavement. Proper surface preparation, new pavement materials, application methods, and cure time are keys to the durability and safety of green lanes.
