Case study:-
PRESENTED BY :- ANJALI BIND
Green ICT is the study and practices of designing , manufacturing
using and disposing of computers , servers and associated subsystem
such as monitors , printers , storage devices.
It is about reducing the energy use of computers , servers and data
centers.
The impact of ICT on ecological sustainability usually coined up, it
emerged as one of the key management issues.
Green ICT is comprised of in initiatives and strategies that reduce
environment footprint of technology.
What is Green ICT ?
FACTS AND FIGURES
OVERVIEW OF GREEN ICT AND ITS FACILITIES
As per the international federation Green ICT is the study and
practice of environmentally sustainable computing .
Many corporate ICT department have been following Green ICT
initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of operations.
India is the only nation to have introduced a Judicial Tribunal
being National Green Tribunal with both the original and
appellate jurisdictions to address the environment concerns.
The Green Practice like use of thin client and search engines
would save 750MW, energy each year as per study conducted
yet.
GREEN ICT PRACTISE
GREEN USE : Using resources in such a way that reduce the
usage of hazardous materials.
GREEN DESIGN : Designing object and services that comply
with the environment.
GREEN DISPOSAL : Recycling e-waste with no or little impact
on the environment.
GREEN MANUFACTURING : The discovery and development of
new products that reduces or eliminates the use or generation
of hazardous substances during the time of making or else
manufacturing.
Green ICT Guidelines
Guidelines:
The goal of Green
ICT is all about
reducing the use of
energy ,carbon
emissions waste ,
materials and space
while improving
process efficiency and
saving money
USE AND DISPOSAL OF GREEN ICT:
Choose product with energy-efficient
certificate.
Use equipment with multiple function instead
of single function such as fax , print ,scan etc.
Select product that have build-in auto sleep
function . This will reduce power .
As desktop computers consume more energy
so switch to laptops and thin clients etc.
ACTIVITY UNDER GREEN ICT
Recycling
Redeploy old PC and ICT devices
for other possible function .
Old PC and laptops if they cannot
be re- used ,recycle them or ensure
they are handled by the eco-friendly
organization.
Select usable parts of old devices to
make new devices.
Prepare a disposal plan for those
devices that are no longer to be
used..
Barriers
Green ICT actually could be
costly if not managed properly
Some computer that are
computing green ict may be
considerably underpowered
Rapid technology changes
CONCLUSION
Its our necessity .
Adopt Green use, design, disposal,
manufacture techniques.
Use certified product by energy efficiency.
Take possible step to recycle or less
consumption.
THANK YOU…..!!
