Black Blizzards Blow through San Jose Theater
SAN JOSE, Calif. March. 23, 2014 – San Jose State University Theater presents
“The Grapes of Wrath” on April 11, 12, 15, 16, 17 and 19.
At 7:00 p.m., join the Joad family and watch their devastating flight from the
Oklahoma Dust Bowl to California in hopes of finding work and a better life, but
instead are struck by the gut-wrenching realities of the Great Depression.
To witness the era of the “Dirty Thirties,” performance tickets cost $20 for general
admission and $10 for student admission.
After the performance there will be a Q&A session by Steinbeck scholar and
author Susan Shillinglaw.
Coinciding with Frank Galati's Tony award-winning theatrical adaptation of John
Steinbeck's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, the Steinbeck center on the fifth floor of
the MLK library will hold a pre-show gala on April 16. Refreshments are included.
Tickets to the pre-show gala are limited to 100 people and cost $35.
The distinguished faculty and alumni of SJSU Theatre Arts play significant roles
in the cultural life of the Bay Area, as well as the broader entertainment industry,
as performers, designers, directors, writers and administrators. In this way, SJSU
