Classes are offered at the K-8, 9-12, and college levels for 1-3 semester hours of credit or on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis. Tuition is $275 per semester hour. Learning is viewed as a lifelong journey connecting one's personality and preferred learning behaviors. Approaches include experiential learning within cultural contexts and relating human information processing to structure and behaviors.
This document describes an online training program in applied ethics called Training in Applied Ethics (TAEPP). It establishes the program's vision and mission, which are to use meta-ethics to provide flexible learning opportunities to help people apply ethics in their lives. The program offers two certification levels (Associate and Fellow) through online classes on various applied ethics topics. Classes are 1-3 hours and last 16 weeks, with topics rotating between individual, group, and global perspectives. Students complete papers or field projects and are evaluated with grades or rubrics. Alan Rhoades is a PhD candidate at UC Davis studying climate change impacts on California's hydrologic system. His goal is to be a climate change researcher and science communicator. He has published papers on modeling Sierra Nevada snowpack and presented his research widely. Rhoades obtained a BS in environmental science from CSU Chico and has worked on sustainability projects and research assistantships related to climate change, renewable energy, and conservation. He is proficient in climate modeling, GIS, statistics, and communication.
This document provides an overview of a module on environmental science. It includes sections on the background and objectives of the module. It outlines topics that will be covered such as definitions of key terms like environment, sustainable development, and the UN sustainable development goals. It also summarizes different historical stages in conservation history from pragmatic resource conservation to modern environmentalism and global environmental citizenship.

ORGANIC/NATURALISTIC MANAGEMENT MODELING Aaron Givan, Ph.D.
(Copyright. 2005. Aaron Givan) STRUCTURE AND DYNAMICS IN ORGANIZATIONS
One way to think about organizations and the functional modes necessary to
make them operate is to use a naturalistic or organic approach--enough
structure, like the skeleton system of the human body to support the
organizational patterns [as imaged in an organizational chart by the entities
named in the chart, for example] so they do not fall apart, but also, enough
flexibility within the structure to allow for movement [as indicated by the
connecting lines showing the relationships among the entities named within the
chart]--rather like the muscle and ligaments of the human body. (See

Combining tools for creativity... "I have used journaling more as a means of
clearing what is on my mind and for playing with ideas." --Walter Ruggieri
(1/6/2007). May I encourage you to combine journaling, mind mapping, and the
use of portfolios for lifelong vocational planning plus the use of poetry or painting
to give a different fine arts facet to this process... The process will spill over into
everything else that you think and do; the organization within chaos, epiphanies
about creativity topics that you like and love, and your dream realms will be
more rich and will enrich others in the process! I have mentored others using
these tools and used these patterns myself; I know they work. Aaron - - Aaron

ART AND EDUCATION: Poetry--An aid to creativity... Using poetry to promote
thinking skills: Researching new topics and how they relate to specific problems—
often hard ones, like in ethics or philosophy of leadership—often involves
moments of insight or an epiphany. The application of the insight is sometimes
spur-of-the-moment and can be easily lost if not written down quickly. Practice in
writing things down quickly using whatever ideas or things that are around—
called bricolage—can be practiced by writing poetry when something gives you an
inspiration—like the poem that is attached, written in about 10 minutes after
looking out the window and hearing the geese fly over. For some people, doing
poetry as a new experience eases the struggle when working on deciding a
dissertation topic. Sometimes topics are “found” in an improvisation process—
using topics that have been done, but looking for the next extension that will
“make a contribution to the field." - Aaron Givan - [3/25/2007]

Wholeness Within the Self as ART [An Intrapsychic-Ecological Approach]
[11/10/2003] Within the structures of everything are the elements of "living
beauty": the key/secret to finding and participating in this living beauty is to look
long and hard at "X"--in this case the self--so that you see/perceive/understand
the structure and relationships of behaviors to the patterns of structures within--
in this case, the self....AND make moment-to-moment small adjustments about
the tasks of living using the whole self--reasoning AND feelings...Real, living
beauty depends on this connection, the small decisons/adaptations, so that
things are lived rightly, placed just right, or seen in the light of the larger
WHOLE, the cosmos.... - Aaron Givan - [6/27/2008]
